This is Wakefield Council’s flagship Employment and Skills Service. Our specialist STEP-UP team is here to help whether you are:

  • Looking for Work
  • Changing Careers or working towards promotion
  • Wanting to learn new skills or work towards qualifications

Or whether you are an employer who wants to:

  • Develop and train their existing workforce
  • Support the recruitment of new employees or
  • Help any employees at risk of redundancy to get the best possible support while under notice

Each of our STEP-UP advisers are specialists in looking for and sustaining work, careers advice and guidance or business support.

We will:

  • Allocate you a personal adviser who will work with you to identify your individual needs.
  • Allocate a specialist key account officer to work with you on your business needs.
  • Work with a wide network of organisations to ensure you get the best possible support to achieve your ambitions.
  • Match you to a range of job opportunities and match businesses to your skills, ensuring you get the best chance of success.
  • Signpost you to a range of learning and skills opportunities to support your
    personal or business goals.

Newly redundant or out of work for a while, our STEP-UP team will help you:

  • Build your CV
  • Approach Employers
  • Build confidence to go for an interview
  • Identify any health or other issues you feel stops you getting a job or progressing in work or skills development
